I need some help!

My wife has a J frame S&W 642 that I like for her to have with her at all times, but she doesn't carry it as much as she should because she doesn't have a holster she likes for it.

Let me tell you a bit about my wife; she is a "plump" gal in her 50's, not huge but "plump". Wears jeans most of the time with her shirts hanging out loose, over her waistline. She doesn't wear a belt on her jeans.

She has tried IWB holsters, but doesn't like the fit/comfort of those.

She has tried carrying the gun in her pocket, but the pockets on her "woman's jeans" isn't as big as the pockets on men's jeans, so she can't get the gun comfortably in the pocket.

Carrying the gun in her back pocket works a little better, but I don't like her doing that without it being in some sort of a holster, I hate the thought that she might sit down somewhere and snag the trigger as she sits down and shoot herself in the ass!

My wife wears her jeans pretty "tight" and so I think that a paddle type holster that she can just slide down over the waistband of her jeans and wear the gun on the outside of her pants, covered by the shirts she always wears hanging loose over her waistline, would work well.

BUT! Where can I find such a holster? Anyone have any suggestions? I have looked and I seem to find hundreds of paddle holsters for autos, but few for revolvers and I haven't found any for this small gun!

Anyone got any suggestions where I can find a paddle holster for a J frame S&W 642?

Right after I posted that question, I found 2 holsters like what I was asking about, one from Fobus and one from Galco.

I have tried Fobus holsters before, for some of my guns and didn't like them because they seemed to push my gun out, away from my body too much. I want it to "hug" me a little better. Anyone know if that paddle holster from Galco is the same way as that Fobus? That Galco looks like a pretty nice holster, but for $60 as opposed to $20 for the Fobus, if they both fit the same, I'll have her try the Fobus.

Seems she had better adapt and wear a belt

Milt Sparks makes an OWB holster that was designed
to be a high ride for a woman's shape, the #PMK - the
designer named it with the initials of his wife.

Google Milt Sparks

Good luck

The Silver Dollar Pancake from Simply Rugged is a very well made and comfortable holster. IMO it's the best out today. The price is more than fair at $45 too.

Here's the link to Milt Sparks. They make a good product but if $60 for a Galco holster gives you pause the prices for Milt Sparks holsters won't make you happy at all. (although the PMK isn't all that bad)

the Null SKR is a very well thought out holster, but it's suitability for women is dependent on their body shape...doesn't always go with a larger chest size.

i've found the Fobus paddle holster for the J-frame very comfortable and secure...i carry my 642 in one...but it rides a bit lower than i'd like. however this same feature should make it fit women better than many high ride holsters due to their flare

Look at the Blackhawk Serpa holsters. I like mine.

I appreciate all the suggestions, THANKS!

We actually went to a gun store today and bought her one of the Blackhawk Serpa holsters. She put a belt on, which she never wears, but liked the way the holster fit when using it as a belt slide and she instantly picked up the motion of hitting that little release button when drawing the gun from the holster.

I might still get one of the Fobus paddles for her too and let her try that, as one poster said, it rides a little lower and maybe she'll like that.

Thanks for all the suggestions, any more info is still appreciated!
