Holsters and bowls

I have four RM holsters and a mag holder. Three of the holsters and the mag carrier broke like yours. I didn’t realize they had a warranty on them. I gave up on them and switched to Blackhawk. I really liked the RM holsters till they broke.
Kee stopped by the house today to drop off a rifle that I let him borrow. I showed him this topic and ke got a kick out of it. He said to tell you to contact him and he will replace any of your holster that broke. He will be out of town until the 13th.

Can you move the holster? It's kinda blocking the bowl.
You know, I forgot to post a picture of the Camphor bowl for you. It’s boxed up right now and I will most likely ship it to Florida tomorrow to one of our forum members.

Oh! Kee stopped by last week to pickup a small bowl to put on his counter at work. He said that he’s been getting a lot of holster orders from out of state. I told him that I was pretty sure that a few of the orders where from THR members.

You have to make sure that the wood you use is hard and dense enough. Wood like Camphor and Norfolk Island Pine are nice for bowls, but a little to soft for grips.
Do ya ever glue up layers of different woods? I got no cool bowls like you make Gunny. Wish I did.
But here's a new customized holster a friend made for my new to me SP101

Thanks. I have no experience with either but really like the grain and color in that bowl. I am kind of challenged for wood sources and have to run down anything more exotic than a small piece of honey mesquite on the internet.

I’ve glued up some poplar boards to make a few bowls, but that’s about it. Never been good with angles and saws so, I don’t see me doing any segment turning.

Right, I have some Koa wood grips; I got a scrap board from a furniture shop when in Hawaii.
Pretty, but they are rather dinged up.
That’s som pretty wood. I have a small log of it sent to me by @LoonWulf . I’m still trying to figure out what to make with it. I don’t want to waste it.

You come through the storm OK Gunny?

We took a direct hit, but the hurricane was loosing power fast when it hit. I was outside just after midnight SA the eye of the storm passed over.
No damage at the house, but I haven’t had power since Saturday evening. I have a generator to run some fans and keep the refrigerator going. I’m just camping out at the house and living the dream. :)

Did your holster making buddy, Kee, fair as well?

Edit to add: Would an order now be a help or a hinderance?

Would he be thinking

- Orders now would be great since I can count on extra income because this storm is going to cost me

or

- man, please don't order anything right now, all my stuff is out of service and my current backlog is only going to get longer?

I haven’t gotten in touch with Kee yet. He and his dad own and run Port City Trap & Supply

I’m sure that they are pretty busy right now.
Just give him a call, he’s a great guy and will let you know what his turn around time is right now.

When I saw the title the song “Silver and Gold” by Burl Ives started running through my head…

Amazing work Gunny, you have a seriously good eye for beauty! About the only pieces of handmade utensil-art I have are a few baskets like this one made by Hopi and Navajo weavers…
