I'm getting a Ruger GP100 6" and will need a holster for it.

I don't like the hard plastic type as I feel they will scratch it. __?

Suggestions?

I just bought a 6" GP100 as well, and had a hard time finding a good holster. I'd like to refer you to www.cowboyneeds.com

Don't let the name fool you. They don't just deal in cowboy style holsters. I'd gone to them before when I had trouble finding a holster for my Beretta Neos and they had just what I needed.

The one I chose for my GP100 is a nice nylon holster with a cloth "inside." I love it. It fits perfectly, nice and snug without "holding onto" the gun. I chose the R6 model under the nylon tab.

P.S. The people at cowboyneeds are some of the nicest people you'll ever do business with.

I bought an Uncle Mikes, size 3, #8103-2 (LH) for the sole purpose of carrying my GP161 while hunting. I will offer no argument that leather or other holsters are better. However, as I hunt almost as often as SE Texas gets snow, my $20 investment fits my needs. I imagine repeated drawing from the holster will quickly wear the bluing from the barrel, as it is a snug fit, but again - for the occcasional trip to the woods, it's sufficient.

I'll add a second vote for Simply Rugged. Or if you are looking for something different try El Paso Saddlery.

I've got a 6" GP100 too, I'm gonna order a simply rugged holster after christmas.
