As I'm thinking about which holster to order for my 5" 627, I though to myself, "Gee, wouldn't it be nice if we had a really big thread where everyone took pictures of their wheelies in their holsters on their bodies so we wouldn't all have to go insane trying to figure out what could possibly work since we could see for ourselves?"

That's what I figure. anyway.

That's going to be a tough one! I have a 5" 625 and I don't think I could conceal that thing... Maybe with a shoulder holster?

Sorry, no pictures of me and my leather.
How about a picture of my sister and her holster ?

Here's some cold water for you. My patented Calf of Power

Below is simply a Galco pocket holster with some Huberd's oil and a Colt DS kept in the front pocket of my riding shorts. It's extremely easy to draw and is light enough it doesn't interfere with riding at all. I never thought it would work, but it does. The holster also doesn't really look like a holster. So it's not too difficult to cover up the Colt's stock in my palm and shift the whole thing as if it were a wallet. To draw you simply grasp the grip and place your trigger finger's nail against the lip of the leather. Then gently push down on the leather with your finger while drawing, and the revolver slides out of the holster at the same time your trigger finger stretches out into place. No fuss, no muss.

jato: it won't be easy, but it can be done. but, generally speaking, I just want to see revolvers in holsters on bodies because I can't seem to find that kind of thread on any forum for absolutely no reason I can discern.

I posted a pic of myself like this once on another gun forum and then found out it was a trick after it was posted on malebuttandcrotchshots.com no thanks...

Uncle Mike's Sidekick

IWB to belabor the obvious. This can be worn strong side or weak side cross draw.

M&P 340 with Hogue Monogrip.

Cover garb could be most anything.

Dadams--how do you keep the thing concealed if the cover is pushed out of the way by wind or something you brush up against? I'm always nervous to carry IWB past three or nine o'clock because it seems like it would take a trenchcoat to safely conceal the firearm.

I usually carry in a pocket and I picked up this Uncle Mike's just to try IWB as a concept.

You are right, but I could see wearing it here in FL with the "island style" shirt out which ar quite long or I wear these over sized and out and buttoned.
I was able to sit comfortably and it did make me do something my Mother never could....."sit up straight".

This is my first attempt at a pancake style holster - I've come up with a much nicer one (here) that I haven't taken an on-body pic of yet.

I made this one for a 3-inch K-frame (pictured), but it turns out that it works better for a 4-inch K-frame.

Bulldog, some very nice work, I am impressed. If I might add one suggestion. The 2 1/2" and 3" K frames ride much nicer and print much less when the cylinder is placed above the belt line. It will place the barrel or bottom of the holster at the same level as the speedloader pouches and therefore easier to conceal. Good luck with the leather work, very nice examples so far. Bill

Thanks for the comments. However, the reason I starting rolling my own is that just about every other commercial option out there rides too high for me. I couldn't find a holster I was happy with, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.

As for printing, in my experience, the primary thing to be concerned about is the grip. When you're trying to conceal a short barrelled handgun, and you have a holster that rides so radically high above the belt that only the lower portion of the handgun/holster is getting support from the belt (even a quality gun belt), "holster flop" results, thus resulting in printing of the grip. This is especially true for those of us who have a little more in the midsection than the average mannequin. I can point you to the Galco Speed Master as an example in this category.

On the other hand, with a holster that's a bit more balanced above and below the belt line, the entire gun is benefitting from the belt working with the holster to tuck the whole package in. The Alessi QCQ/S is a perfect example for this category.

I conceal with baggy T-shirts, button-ups, or polo shirts. No issues with printing.

Again, this is just me. What works for one person may not work for another. That's why there are so many options out there. In my case, my option was to come up with something myself. :D
