So my buddy and I were on lunch break at a local ammo store and they were wiped out (big surprise). As we were about to walk out the owner backed his truck up to the door and the store worker said 'oh he must have some of the production run from this week. He won't back up unless there's alot to unload." We started to walk out and I said, well, why don't we at least peek in the back of the truck and see what's there. 10 Boxes that said IMR or Hodgdon. The Hodgdon boxes had 'Varget' printed on them!!! We smugly went back in and said 'are you selling that powder or is it going to production?' and he said it's going to be sold. We asked for the price on the Varget (8lb jugs) and he said $153.99 :)what::what:). I meekly said 'well, we'll go to lunch and be back in about an hour, we need to thing about it.' My friend, who doesn't know much about reloading, asked what the big deal was with Varget....well, 5 minutes after explaining why its such good stuff and how difficult it is to get, he basically forced me to turn around. So now I've got a jug and he has a jug for when he gets his reloading stuff back (from me :D).

Definitely not trying to brag, just elated that I found powder! And to let everyone know to keep up with the stores and you'll score what you need in due time!

I found Varget in 1 lb. containers locally yesterday. Shop probably had fifteen of them. I was so tempted to grab them all to re-sell but, that's what's got us in this entire mess.

I hope someone who truly needs it. gets it.

They had Unique in pounds also along with most flavors of Alliant products. I did not see any BlueDot or Bullseye.

They had Titegroup and most of the Hodgdon line too.

All the Best,
D. White

thats why I left the other 6 jugs behind. I couldve been really :evil: , but decided to allow others the chance to score some too.

And oddly enough, I have more primers than powder to load for. The opposite problem of most people!

Cabela's has started to get some real powder in this week. Prices may be up, but it is there. It's a start! Hopefuly all the primer hoarders out their will back off and let people that neeed them to reload, "not to sell", get ahold of them.

I am glad to see you left a little for others. Going off of my current loading for .308 a 8# jug will produce about 1300 rounds. I really wonder if some of the powder/ammo horders realize just how many rounds they could produce with what they have. Now if I could just find 13 boxes of 168 gr a-max that i could afford i would be set.

I have 4 one lb cans of Varget but I got an 8 lb can of 4064 so I feel good.
That gives my 4 lbs of Varget, 8 of 4064, 4 og TAC, and 4 of RE15. I'm pretty set for about 2 years of rife loading.

I have 6 lbs of Varget, 4 lbs of 4350 and 7 lbs of 4895 but even though that sounds good it won't get me through the Summer. I need at least 8 more pounds of either 4895 or Varget. (both would be better) (yes, I have the primers to use up all that powder and more!)

Consider yourself lucky, I paid $30 for a pound of Varget at the gunshow. I wanted this powder and its pretty much impossible to find, so out came the wallet, lol.

A shop in my area has about a dozen 1lb cans on the shelf for 26.95 each. I didn't buy any. Last ones I bought were 20.29.
