i just had this thought occur to me and would like some opinions on it.
fact it is illegal to "boobytrap" ones home
for the point of the argument lets say it is a fact that i am a fur trapper and i set various traps in my house for the purpose of "testing" their effectiveness after long periods of being set. or some other reason.
now lets say Mr. bugler breaks in and sets off one of the aforementioned traps breaking his ankle and getting caught. am i still wrong or at fault for "boobytraping" my house i mean after all i did catch a boob in it lol.

What do you have against buglers?

I'd say ... hopefully you don't walk in your sleep. No offense intended, but the reasons this is a stupid idea are way too many to list ... Get a dog.

That's pretty much the main reason for anti-boobytrap laws.

I'd say your liable to be sued or worse. The fact remains it is still a trap and I'm sure anyone using a trappers trap to protect their home in the case of a break-in would likely use the excuse that you've just given; "just wanted to see if they worked" or something stupid like that.

Please don't hurt the "bugler"! Who will blow reveille to get the troops up? Now, if it was a buRgler, that might be another story. However, most places make traps for humans illegal. Trap guns are definitely illegal. They are like mines, they don't differentiate their victims.
