This example proves what I learned a long time ago.

There is no "safe" place. It's sad, but it's reality. I'm glad your Sister is OK and your dog deserves a big hug and an extra helping of Alpo. :)

oh man... now i just can not handle waiting for my pistol permit. I hear about all these things going on, and my brother had his home burgled, i feel so patheticly helpless while NYS takes its time deciding if im worth keeping around.

Six, I feel your pain. I have less than a year to go before I can apply for my license to carry. Both NY and MA need to rethink their laws. Look at ME, NH, etc; not great in those places, but better off than where we are.

Your wife has a cool head. She sure reacted well in the sudden circumstance. Good instincts and training of the dogs, too. Not just obedient but moving to the bathroom door to stand guard even before your wife was aware of the danger. can;t ask for more than that.

Thanks for sharing your story. I hope everyone can get over the violation and outrage that often occurs. We can all learn from your successful repulse of boarders!

How scary is that?! The old uniform strikes me as a way to gain confidence rather than as a disguise. That being the case he sounds like a potential rapist who just got freaked out by your dogs.

Props to the dogs and props to your sister for moving for her gun. Makes me feel less stupid about carrying while I am home.

... if the bad guy had found the firearm that was left out, she and the dogs would no longer be here...Next time, take the pistol into the bathroom and lock the door.
Possibly the OP would also have been eyeballing the business end of his sister's revolver since he arrived soon after the BG's hasty exit -- which may have not been as hasty if the BG were in control of the gun. As to locking doors, did I overlook any mention of a forced entry? How secure was the house while sis was in the shower?

FWIW, I imagine the dogs sounded off as soon as the BG entered and even stranger that the BG stood his ground while facing 3 "wildly barking dogs" -- or perhaps a bunch of yipping tail waggers? Is this story real? The Fedex door tag is also curious.
