I have done a browning and remington rifle in my garage, and they are fine. I just can't justify spending more on a timney trigger than the rifle cost. The current trigger on my 10/22 is unbearable. Does anyone have a link to a thread with pics and directions? Is it do able? Or do I need to start shopping for a second hand target rifle? Any advise is appreciated.

Rimfirecentral tech section has several threads with various degrees of DIY.

There is a series of gunsmithing videos on line just google 10/22 trigger job. I watched this one and it was decent enough to use as a guide. He tears one down and explains what and why as he does it. I took mine apart and just polished all mating surfaces it is better but I need to watch the video again and do a bit more. You might want to polish yours up and try it before you do any real removal of material.

Again, most all semis come from the factory with a negative interface angle. The RFC article shows how to create a zero or very close to zero interface. Very simple for a DIY guy.

The adjustable sear is a job saver in that you simply adjust with an Allen wrench.

The combination is a very cheap, safe, and efficient trigger job.

If the wallet can afford a kit consisting of an adjustable sear and a hammer, you really save the work and worry.

Next would be the bedding...........

The pretravel is the movement of the blue piece (sear) across the purple piece (diconnector). The adjustment screw will adjust the sear out to the edge of the diconnect safely.

With my builds, I remove some of the front of the trigger shelf. As you pull the trigger. the sear is dragged cross this ledge until it drops off the edge. This is creep. Not pretravel. You can make this rather precise. Mount your trigger housing in a vise that allows you to insert the trigger/sear pin and the hammer pin. Partially. By leaving the pins sticking out your side of the housing you can mount these pieces and see the interfce of the parts.

A sear/hammer kit, you can pass this step.

I did the Rimfire Central job on mine and it worked great. Just a hint of creep but it's much lighter now. Way better than the factory trigger and it was free.
