Just thought I'd share one the projects I'm working on off and on.

She is made from two 91/30 receivers which were torch cut, ground to dimension and then re assembled with the use of a tig welder and a jig.

Her barrel is around 4.5 inches (less than 2 inches of riffling) and is threaded to AK specification.

Still quite a ways to go before she has her broomhandle grip etc. but she is to the point where we can use her to make some rather beautiful fireballs.

Are you assuming that the receiver(s) having been torch-cut gets past the issue of a <26" "firearm made from a rifle" problem?

For the sake of this concept, let's just not spoil this thread by turning it into a legal paperwork discussion. Assume that unless the OP specifically states otherwise that he has already completed whatever requirements there are. Perhaps move it to the NFA section and add a disclaimer at the bottom?

I just want to see where this thing goes and what it looks like when the OP gets it finished.

The receivers were de-milled Per BATFE spec, with 1/4 inch of material being removed with each pass of the oxy acetylene torch.

the remnants (now no longer a firearm) were cleaned up with grinder, and the overlapping segments of two receivers were welded back together on a jig.

Its 100% legal. same as any re-weld which conforms to the BATFE regulations on receiver destruction.

O'Brez; is that like an Irish thing? ;)

Looks sick. Lemme know if you need a good plastic surgeon after touching the first round off :D

It'd be cool if there was a way to get a "Thompson Contender" (for lack of a better term) pistol grip to help with the ergos. You could still have a foregrip, too. But I guess it wouldn't quite be an Obrez at that point...:(

Zero recoil? Must be one hell of a muzzlebreak you have on there.

The AMD65 muzzlebreak is the same type of brake I used in my FBP16 project

It works amazingly well on 7.62x54R guns.

I don't manufacture firearms for sale or do any custom gunsmithing.

the only 07FFL I know of that has a set of jigs to reweld mosins into pistols and the licencing nececary for comercial sale is PRKarms in Fresno. (their operations manager and I have a friendly rivalry with regard to sawed off mosin's)

Ajax do you live in the central valley? I would be happy to offer my services to test the recoil claims for our fellow highroaders.

That's some sick stuff right there. The muzzle blast fills the entire frame and moves the target in the next lane! LOL Sick stuff alright but cool...

    Amazing

I shoot a M/N shorty and I am amazed at the total lack of recoil compared to my carbine.

I have to ask,are you shooting full house loads ?.

    Yep.... commercial Winchester ammo....

I've run heavy ball surplus through it... bigger flash/fireball.... still zero kick....
