federal government facilities do ban the law abiding from carrying or possessing firearms and they listen. It's the criminals who blazingly ignore that law. The royal oak michigan post office shooting for example. As I recall all the victims were following the law and were un armed and are still dead. The assailant walked passed the sign. Oh and fort hood.

If I cant have a gun in my office, My cold steel recon will in the drawer, and my spyderco is practicly part of me. It seems the selection of tools that our homeland security uses isnt going to keep anyone secure. Obviosly they need to find new jobs as clowns or comedians.

Wonder what they were thinking ordering 1 billion rounds of ammo and 7000 M16s. Scissors would be a lot sheaper on our tax bills. :cuss:

Are you telling me that people bent on mass murder would ignore "no guns allowed" signs?:what:

You'd think if they would just outlaw murder that would solve the problem . . .

Once again, Horse Soldier comes along and solves the whole problem. Why didn't Joe Biden think of that?

Duck tape would be more effective. You tape it the doorway and when the criminal ducks to enter the room, you stab him in the neck with the scissors.

Personally, i think Heinz 57 ketchup is a better option. Smear some on your torso and lie there playing dead. Be sure to hide the ketchup bottle or you may give away your charade.

Well, remember the 21 foot rule. Sometimes the man who brings a gun to a knife fight loses. Although a frightened office worker with a pair of scissors might not be an ideal knife fighter.

FYI, the 21-foot rule applies to someone with a holstered pistol. It doesn't apply if the pistol (or rifle) is already out.

"...brought to you by the 21st century version of the organization who brought you Bert the Turtle and the "Duck and Cover" nuclear defense drills..."

Because a flimsy wooden desk is good cover against a thermonuclear warhead. And scissors are heap good medicine against a gunman.
Why do we pay these folks again?
I think a troop of Girl Scouts could brainstorm something better.

scissors won twice in the selection committe, and was therefore deemed the best defense.

That is just middle of the road, too. Some of the shears we sharpen are $1,000-$1,400 per pair. You can get the same performance for less money, but certain name brands fetch high prices, like many things in life.

I hope they don't ban scissors and shears, that would really hurt the family business. Oh wait.............if the guberment recommends scissors, then maybe it will help sales. Watch out for those shears with the "finger thing that swivels", they are far more deadly than fixed handle scissors. Also look out for those "salon style" convex edge scissors, they cut far too easily to be suitable for the average citizen or undocumented immigrant.

I think it's because they tried paper by outlawing mass shootings and went with scissors because we aren't cavemen and use rocks.

No need for any civilians to own guns. Just hunker down, call the government, and wait for them to catalogue the crime scene.

You may use scissors as a legal weapon, but only if you don't run with them.

Anyone caught running with scissors will get a visit from the ATF.

Duct tape? I may just see how it will look over the mouth of my attacker, as well as him being secured to a chair with it.

I'm hoping it takes at least 30 minutes for the authorities to arrive at the attacker crime scene, after my 911 call...wonder what his favorite color duct tape might be?

Better get an assortment of colors; red, white, and blue for starters.

I'm thinkin' Anthony Hopkins for the lead role, in the movie. "Oh, Clarice..."

In the case of an active scissor stabbing, grab a staple remover.

Okay, yes, it looks stupid, we've all had a really good laugh about that video. Now, for some seriousness, and fairness.

The video doesn't say 'use scissors to overpower a gunman.'

They say 'Consider overpowering the gunman WITH WHATEVER MEANS ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU.' and they show a pair of scissors in an office desk as just an example.

Overpowering a murderous gunman with whatever means are available, if you are unable or unwilling to evacuate, isn't bad advice, especially if you have a firearm available to you.

I heard on the radio that the president's security detail had suffered multiple scissor injuries with the new pointy scissors and was going to be issued the safer rounded type. The injuries occurred when agents were running with their scissors (mom said that was a no no) to arrest a man who was eating an illegal chicken wing along the parade route.

I'm just glad the Corps didn't send me to Vietnam with scissors.
