Charges for WHAT?!!! The guy managed to save his own life from those who were threatening to take it from him. Good for him, and I wish there were more like him. The guy should get a medal.

The story is too lacking of details to know whether or not the supposed robbers actually threatened the guy's life.

Heck, the police don't even know if the people described by the homeowner were actually robbers or not. For all we know, they could have been a small gang of homosexuals who wanted to rape the guy, not rob him.

Charges for what? I am guessing that the story provided was ONLY provided by the homeowner. He claims said activities happened, but without an corroboration from witnesses, the police are left with trying to determine if the story went down as claimed. They apparently have only one version. For all they know, the homeowner might have concocted the story to cover up the real reason or context of the shooting. He may have committed murder. It could have been some sort of drug deal gone bad. So the police need to verify that the story is actually true.

There may be potential charges against the homeowner if he shot the bad guy with an illegal gun such as one that was illegally modified. Maybe the homeowner is a felon who should not have been in possession of the gun.

The suspect that jumped from the garbage can is described as a grouchy green guy. Witnesses described the fleeing accomplices as a giant yellow bird and furry blue guy mumbling about cookies. Police speculate that this is the same trio that burglarized the home of the Keebler Elves last week.

DNS, you say that as if it were morally wrong. If this turns out to be the case, I say he still deserves a medal.
