Many months ago I posted a request for help getting my Savage 10FP - LE2 to extract/eject properly. Sadly nobody else seemed to have similar problems. I had taken it to a gunsmith who replaced the ejector spring and ejector which helped but didn't cure the problem.
At a loss I consulted the Brownells cataloge which listed every part in the entire bolt. I figured I could order a few parts to see if that would fix the problem without too much trouble. So I ordered a new extractor, extractor detent ball and a new extractor spring. All of which cost less than $25.00 shipping included. Whilst installing the new parts I noted that the new detent ball was a smaller diameter than the old one and the new extractor has a different surface finish than mine.
Well after completing the parts swapping (10 minutes) I tested it with empty brass and the rifle ejected properly every single time! I then tried with proving dummies and they too ejected properly (provided I didn't short stroke the bolt). I'm now a very happy camper and I hope my struggle will help some THR'rs .
