Since this isnt hand/reloaded ammo, I hope this is the right place for it.

And I hope is last long enough for me to hit "post reply"

$149 for 640 rounds of Wolf..

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/640-rds-762x39-122-gr-fmj-ammo.aspx?a=485398&pn=1

Still expensive IMO (compared to 5+ years ago), but I think this is a fair price in todays environment. Might be on back order for a few weeks, but considering what I have seen price-wise recently...

Cheers!

At Cabela's 500 rnsds wolf is $152.99 before shipping ~ $.30598. per round

At Sportsmanguide.com 640 rnds wolf is $149 before shipping ~ $
.2328125 per round.

That means at sportmansguide.com ammo 7.62 ammo is about ~ 23% cheaper by volume. I have always liked Cabelal's due to accurate shipping time; 23% is a huge amount.

Exactly what kind of ammo is this? They show boxes of Wolf ammo in the pic, but the actual rounds do not look like Wolf. Wolf ammo is grey, and these rounds look dull green, like Brown Bear ammo.

No it's wolf, grey or green.

Where did I miss it saying it can't ship to Massachusetts? Normally in the magazine it says it but here I can't see it.

You'll most likely, never get that ammo, at that price.

I don't know where people dig up those links but if you go to Sportsman Guide and follow the 7.62 x 39 ammo links, you find that tin of ammo for 179.97

Go ahead and try to order it for 149.00. Sportsman Guide will send you a nice email saying how sorry they are but the product you ordered is no longer available at that price but you could have it at 179.97

I've already seen several people post about this on other forums.

Sportsman Guide seems to have these screw-ups all the time.

On 5-12, I ordered a case of 1,000 7.62 x 39 from them for $223.59 It is "back-ordered" and my order is "Currently Awaiting Approval" I have no doubt I will never get that ammo at that price.

I also ordered a case of 7.62x39 from sportsman's guide a month or so ago at at a decent price, and now I just got an e-mail that it was backordered until August, and now it has been pushed back to September, good luck.

Something smells here. I have long since blocked all email from that outfit. It isn't the first time I've seen them do fishy stuff.

I don't think its malicious and intended as a bait and switch. I think they are just really disorganized and have problems with their web site.

The question is why does the link provided in this thread still work?

You can click on it and go to the 149 a tin page. Then navigate to pistol ammo, back to rifle ammo, back to 7.62 x 39 ammo and you find the same tin for 179.97. :scrutiny:

They are a screwy outfit but I have ordered things from them many times. A couple years ago I remember they upset a lot people selling 50's Yugo ammo as 70's Yugo and it happened to a few people more than once. Some bad feeling over that one.

I have quit dealing with them. They play too many games. They used to be a good place to deal with. Them and Cheaper than Dirt, both have gone from good places to buy from to......well......not to.

I agree 100% on CTD. I doubt I will buy from them again.

I'll give SG another chance though

I agree.

IMO, if a retailer has a website it should be regularly updated so that prices listed are current. If they're not willing to make that effort, the website should simply say "call or email for prices".

Anyone who doesn't follow the above doesn't get my business; at least, not when there is an alternative source.

I've never bought from SG before and after reading this thread do not intend to. I've had good luck with Ammoman and Natchez, although right now both are out of practically everything. My best luck in the last few months has been with WalMart (despite paying 7%-8% sales tax, depending on the township).

Academy has the same thing (Barnaul 123-grain fmj, sold as Wolf or Monarch) for ~$.03 a shot. $5.69+(.0825 x 5.69)= ~$6.16 / 20= ~$.31 per round. [Steel case]

Cheaper Than Dirt has been known to gouge at times but I ordered some .45 ACP from them recently at a good price.

It seemed to me, they went way over the top during this "crisis"

They even contributed to it by fanning the flames.

It depends upon how you present yourself when you deal with SG. They just tried it with me, but I stuck to my guns and got some ammo for $84 less a case than they were trying to ship it to me for. If you see something at a given price, that's the price.

:cuss:

SPG has discounted price from time to time but usually only for a few days. They may back order you for a few months but will ship eventually at the price you buy. If you think ammo price will stay high in near future, buy it. If you think the price will fall, pass it. Don't buy it if you need ammo now since the chance is you won't get it for a few months.

By the way, this price is lower than I have seen at SPG in recent months even compare to their short "promotion" prices which is around 22 cents per round.

I have used Sportsman's Guide for quite a while. They often have great deals but they are often backordered. If you can wait for the shipment, I recommend ordering. They have always honored the old price for backorders. I just ordered 4 tins fron the link above. I'll let you know what happens.

They do have the thirty round P-Mags back in though...

About the same price as Brownell's, including their dealer discount!
