 I have an older Walther PP that I am trying to find info on. The gun has a 72 then an antler and the eagle on the slide. I am guessing it is a 1972 model. What is unique about the gun is that it has a saddle ring on the butt next to the clip. Not a metal tab that sticks down, but a steel cylinder with a ring through it. It also has what appears to be A.M.I. Georgia U.T. scribed into the barrel section. Is this a rare variation of the PP? It is a 7.65 or .32 cal. Anybody have an idea? All serial numbers match and it is 6 digits starting with 421***. Also says made in Germany. Thanks in advance for your help, TommyCaller.:)

Nothing really rare about the pistol.
It is a standard German Police issue postwar PP.
Several thousand were imported to the states over the last ten years or so.

I think if you look at the inscription a little closer under magnification, it will read C.A.I Georgia Vt., this is the importers mark required after the imposition of the gun control act of 1968 and the mark stands for Century Arms International who happened to import the majority of guns that came into the country.

Your pistol isn't rare but they sure make nice shooters. Hope this helps and welcome aboard.
