Does anyone here have a HORNADAY KINETIC BULLET PULLER. This last summer, I contacted Hornaday and asked them about the O-ring that holds the jaws together and was told that they were made with a split in the O-ring, I think that was a snow job!! Can you tell me if your Hornaday puller has a split O-ring that holds the jaws together? It is a PITA to operate with the split O-ring so I want to install a complete O-ring which will hold them together and still spread enough to hold the bullet casing. Thanks, 74man

If by split you mean not a complete circle, that makes no sense. Looki at the pictures on Hornadys website it looks like the same setup as my Frankfort Arsenal. The o-ring 54BA5F35-B156-415A-A8D5-D6F09E0605D1.jpeg goes around and holds the collet together.

Exactly what I thought. I asked it they had a part number for the o-ring and they told me that it was cut on purpose, I got snowed!!! I found a video on getting the correct size O-ring and I ordered 5 but not from Hornaday. I have had mine since 2014 so it could be an old model.Thanks.

Do you have the persons name from Hornady and what division they were from? I’ve dealt with Hornady for many years and have never had this happen. I have had issues when either I didn’t explain properly what part or the person I was talking to didn’t understand what part I was talking about but was always resolved.
I have no idea what you are calling a split oring as I have the same bullet puller and the oring is exactly the same as the RCBS one I have.
I’m assuming that the oring broke at some point and you are trying to use it as such and that would be a pita. Any auto parts store, industrial supply or hydraulic shop will have the proper one to fit.

Although I use RCBS they’re same design as Hornady. I’ve replaced mine about 4 times from a universal oring asst kit I keep in shop. Nothing special, just an oring.
Buy the cheap asst kit- about 25 different sizes in a red box, total about 500+ orings - China freight, northern tool, etc.
In today’s world, it won’t be last time you need that kit!!! My kit is about 40 years old and only about 1/2 full now.
Good luck

Started out with Quinetics that last about 25 years, then Rcbs lasted about a year, Hornady (made by Quinetics) lasted about two years. and now Frankfort Arsenal. Hornady had that cut oring and it did suck so replaced it with a whole one. Shell holder best idea works good.

The hornady with the oring problem had all three pieces of the shell holder glued to the oring and it wrapped around the case. I thought I had just gotten a defective one but talked to other people and theirs was like that too.

Read on a previous thread here a while back about kinetic or inertia bullet pullers and someone posted a link to a little wave washer mod. It was like 2 or 3 bucks.
Swore that it worked. I thought there is no way this little washer could make a difference.
Holy Cow! Instead of 40 whacks it now takes one, maybe two. Something so simple yet so effective.

Gee the Hornady looks the same as all the others, it is a split collet not O ring, Unless in years past it was different??
