Previously, all I'd ever used to prep bottleneck rifle cases was the Franklin Arsenal Plat prep center https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1012719754?pid=628405
I station to trim, one to deburr, etc etc

Always envied the RCBS 3 way cutter heads, but they ain't exactly cheap, and I didn't have a traditional case trimmer to use 'em with anyway.

Got sidetracked into revolvers a while back and decided a traditional case trimmer wouldn't be a bad idea. (All the time thinking I could also use it for the RCBS trimmer heads on rifle brass).

I prefer the Hornady design and was able to score one at Academy for 70 bucks (100 at Midway)

And then I found this gizmo,,,

The price is nice, and if you need to prep 223, 243, 270 or 308, this one tool has you covered.

I used it tonight for the first time. Didn't take long to see the benefits of a 3 way cutter head over my FA prep center. The trim/deburr/chamfer consistency is far better, and faster too!

Some potential caveats:
* Requires Hornady shell holders.
* The pilots are not interchangeable with pistol caliber pilots. (For those of us who like to prep certain flavors of revolver brass,,, at least once,,,)
* Set up/caliber changes require a little mechanical know-how, but it you can loosen/tighten 3 hex socket screws, it's certainly not rocket science by any means.

I do have a cordless adapter for the trimmer, but it typically takes such minimal effort/time that I use the OEM hand crank instead.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Thanks for sharing. I picked up the 3-way a month ago, but then I couldn’t get the old cutter off. My biggest challenge is trimming .300 AAC Blackout, and why I thought the 3-way would help. But most of my cases are too small (after sizing) to fit on the .308 pilot, which is why I bought the other trimming tools in the first place.

I’ll have to revisit this soon, as I wanted to attempt some pistol trimming.

Like it?

A trimmer with 2 cutting heads and 14 pilots for the ~same~ price as (1) Giraud?

I'm certainly enjoying mine! Hope you enjoy yours soon! :thumbup:
