Hi, I just bought a Marlin .450 lever action this morning (picture below), along with some Hornady 350 and 325 grain rounds (picture of both together below). Before i went to work i tried out the 350 grain rounds, just to see how well they feed, and no problems, i was plenty happy. When i got home i tried to feed the 325 grain rounds through it, and ended up having to damn near dissasemble the rifle in order to get it out.
Something happened when it tried to pull the bullet out of the tube, like its not grabbing it correctly or something, and it catches in such a way that it jams the lever from being brought back up, and it will not let the lever cycle all the way down either.

So after i cleared the jam, (45 minutes or so later) i thought it may be a fluke and tried another, being much more careful this time, and it did the same thing. While trying to figure out what was going on i moved the round back and fourth in the tube, and noticed that there is quite a bit of friction, as if it is a larger diameter than the 350 grain rounds, and the spring cannot push it into its home positon, thus causing it to grab the bullet in an awkward position and jam. The rounds fit fine into the barrel, so i dont see why they have problems in the tube.

Have any of you had problems with this ammo? if so what's the fix? i spent almost 29 bucks on these, and had to dissasemble my rifle, which caused tiny scratches etc. around the screw heads, which i am freaking out about seeing as how im compulsive that way :(

Thanks for your help, its sorely needed.

First, I'd check the cartridge lengths...looks like the pointy nosed one is longer. Most tube-fed lever guns are really sensitive to over-length ammo.

If it feeds the flat-nosed ones fine....just single load the pointy one and keep the flats in the mag.

Marlin(I think it's marlin) sells a different mag follower to be used with the lever revolution ammo from hornady.

after 2 more hours of searching i found a post in another forum that said the same thing, so im glad theres nothing wrong with my rifle :) any idea where i can buy one of the followers i need?

while hunting ill likely keep the lever evolution in the barrel, and the lead core rounds in the tube like you said, so i can make the 1st shot count ;)

thanks for your help guys, and just so you know, this rifle packs quite a punch even with the recoil pad. After 13 rounds my shoulder felt like it was going to be bruised. My dad, who is used to his 45-70 sai's it feels like a 45-70 magnum, which is pretty much what it really is.
Accuracy is so so. I was shooting at 25 to 30 yards and keeping groups of about 6 inches with iron sights, but im sure it's mostly my fault, since i havent done much shooting lately.
