Hi , I am new here but have been looking awhile , I have been wanting a hornady L N L AP , I really don't new what to order , I will be loading 223s . If some one could give me some idea in what I have to order to get set up to load 223s, and the best place to order from , I was looking a dillon 550 , then I did a search on here and found that people liked the LNL . Thanks for the help , TEDMI.

I put one on backorder from Midsouth last week. Prices seem to be going up everywhere on them. They have it for $310 but it's on back order, expected in stock on 25 March. Wideners had it listed for $299, but it jumped to $369 last week. They are out of stock too, no one seems to have them. Also, if you get one by Dec 31st, Hornady will send you 1000 bullets if you pay shipping...$12 I think, you have to pick from their list though. I'm going to get their 230gr XTP in .45

Here's what you'll need, as a "very nice" starter setup:

Hornady LnL AP Progressive

Shellplate #16 for .223 caliber

Die set for .223 (If you don't want to trim a lot, buy a Lee Deluxe die set and add an RCBS X-die to it. Note: RCBS recommends the small base die to insure feeding in semiautomatics.)

Hornady powder scale or RCBS 505 powder scale (Same basic thing)

RCBS Trim Pro trimmer

RCBS Trim Pro 3-way head for .223 (This is a major labor saver for trimming brass.)

(As an alternative, get a Giraud case trimmer and .223 kit, which is faster and setup about the same way.)

RCBS Trim Mate with accessories

Frankford Arsenal tumbler and rotary sifter kit or equivalent

Lee Classic Cast single stage press (Even though you'll have a progressive, these come in very handy with a Lock N Load conversion kit so you can swage military brass with a CH4D swager or decap with a Lee Universal decapper before tumbling, plus you can reload on them with only a die set as well.)

Safety glasses

1/8" Corn cob media bought at the local feed store

Nu Finish Car polish to use as an additive to the corn cob media

Set of calipers

This should get you started pretty well.

Regards,

Dave
