Looks like the new die sets (New Dimension) only include the sizer die, expander die and the seating die. Does the seating die also crimp or do you need the crimp die as well? Their web site doesn't make this clear.

Thanks!

The seating die also crimps. Remove the seating stem and take a peek inside. You should see the crimping ring.

Hornady seating dies are made a little differently than others. There's a spring clip at the bottom. Remove that, and the caliber specific sleeve and the seating stem come out the bottom. There's a crimping ring/ledge machined into the inside of the sleeve. Put it back together, and the settings don't have to be readjusted.

Some of their sets (454 casull) come with separate taper crimp dies. But the seater is the same P/N as the 45 colt, and will roll crimp. I really like the roll crimp mine puts on with lead bullets and deep cannelures.

I have Hornady seating dies for 9mm and .40 but I have never noticed if they crimp or not. I crimp seperately. I'll have to look. Looked in my 9mm seater. Yea, there is a ridge there. I don't know how well it would crimp with this setup. It looks like it's for a roll crimp not a taper crimp if it is meant for crimping at all. Looked in my .40 seater. Really it looks like a "stop" for the brass not a crimping feature. I'll have to research it. They do a great job seating. I am as confident in them seating bullets straight as I am my .45 Redding Competition Seater. I'll continue to crimp seperate.

I've got a set on my 550. I did purchase a separate taper crimp die as I prefer to crimp in a separate operation. The seating die is VERY nice.

Well... I ordered some Hornady crimp dies anyway... since the LnL can hold all of them anyway. :)
