I often find myself having to secure my weapon in my car prior to entering a restricted area or even keeping it in when commuting to work where carry is phrohibited. Both of my jobs are have rules against CC. In the summer time you have to deal with blistering temperatures and stapping on a hot pistol when its time to re-arm yourself. Some folks have even speculated on how hot it would have to get to have a ammo cook off or have a glock frame melt! After a day in the hot sun I can definitely understand why.
My solution was this. I bought a small insulated lunch bag and stored my pistol inside of it. Of course this is in addition to a locked compartment. I've been doing this for the last few months with both polymer and steel framed pistols and all remained nice and "freindly" when it was time to strap on. Hey..if it can keep your lunch cool then it can keep your weapon cool right?
Just curious...how do you folks keep your guns cool when you have to store them in a hot car?
Good Shooting
