Having sold

all my 8mm Mausers some years ago I can say that most 8X57 ammo for sale in the USA when I was shooting them was generally downloaded to compensate for the few .318 Mausers still in the hands of gun owners. Being that the .98 Mauser was probably the strongest designs in the history or rifle manufacturing I would load mine up to 27-2900 fps using 150 grain bullets. The Turkish might be another story altogether. I used to buy them and give them to friends and fellow workers, just to get them interested in old military rifles. At that time they were selling for around $100 for five, plus shipping. I suspect that the Turkish was made by many competent Mauser franchises and is probably just as strong as any other Model 98 made in the past. If the headspace is correct, I wouldn't be concerned about firing them up to and including 45-50,000 cup. That's just my opinion. Others may differ in their opinion.
