As mentioned in other threads I've picked up a hogue rubber grip for my ROA and it doesn't fit:mad:, wasn't till I got it home could I open it to see on the small print it doesn't fit "XR3-only" frames? (what ever that means??)

My local dealers don't list any other models, can I make this fit or should I get my money back and buy some else?

Regards,

Over the years, Ruger has made two basic grip frames for their large single-action revolvers. First was the XR-3, which was very Colt-like, which people loved, and to which they have returned in the "New" Vaquero.

In the meantime, they produced the XR-3RED frames (XR-3 REDO/REDONE) which were larger and, perhaps, better suited to the recoil of the heavier calibers and loads, and might support the larger frames better.

The two are not interchangeable, so you need different grips.

The ROA takes the same grips as a New Model Blackhawk. Everybody and his brother makes grips for the Blackhawk.
