I have had a blued & SS ROA for years. Just recently I purchased a high gloss, fixed sight ROA as well. It must be a later version then my others, it seems to have simulated wood grips and also the nipples are not stainless like my earlier one (the nipples don't appear to have been replaced and the pistol has been used very little if any). When I bought my first ROA's I purchased a spare set of nipples and a spare set of grips. I might put the spare set of grips on this one, I like the original grips better.

The one minor problem I notice with it is the poor fit of the pin latch. The pin latch is too long for the ball detent to engage the frame thus it spins to easily and gets out of position. I'm not sure if it's the pin latch that is the problem or if when they did the polishing at the factory they took to much off the frame.

I have several options. I could make a washer for the pin latch to makeup the difference, would have to be made of thin brass or stainless shim stock.

I could get the Belt Mountain pin latch, don't like the way they stick out but they are more convenient.

I could contact Ruger and see what they think, perhaps get a replacement from them, although the pin latch may not be the problem.

Anyone else have this problem?

Even though the Ruger service dept. fixed one for me that simply wouldn't turn by sending the gun in to them, I don't think that you will be able to obtain a replacement pin latch from Ruger since most of their parts have been exhausted.
However, another option to be aware of is that Jack First gun parts said that they will be manufacturing a batch of them within the next 4-6 months which will cost about $50 each.
I don't know how to find out if it's the frame or the pin latch without trying out a new latch assembly or your shim fix. That is unless you trust Ruger to tell you without having the replacement part to actually fix it with. And then you may not be able to or want to get it back, especially if they offer you a new gun of your choice.
But on the other hand, the ramming lever seems to be able to adequately hold the cylinder pin in place in lieu of a non-locking pin latch assembly.

If you have other ROA's, then use the pin latch off of one of them to see if it solves the problem, all the parts should be pretty much interchangeable even from the different models, as Ruger made the parts for them all as a standard run. If it's not the latch, then it's the frame;:cuss::cuss: time to check out a gunsmith.:banghead::banghead:

Just tried the other pin out of my other ROA. It holds just fine, so it is the Pin itself.
