It came to me in a dream.....
How about a CZ52 in .38 Super/9X23???

More likely a time bomb. They used to sell CZ52 rebarreled for 9mm, I think the barrel wall ended up too thin when made to fit the original slide. I doubt a more powerful round would be a very good idea.

Personally, the Tok rounds pressures can be ALOT more than the 9mm even in +P. Like 10000 CPU or more......................
And the Tok case is the same diameter as the 9mm or damn close to it. So why not get a 9mm barrel and have the chamber reamed. You will have the same wall thickness as the OEM barrel with less pressure.
The case length would still be around or under the 25mm's Tok case and the pressures would be less..............
I say go for it. The OEM mags and extractor would work.
Unless minds immeasureably superior to mine have other things to say to shoot my theory down????????????????

They sell 9mm barrels for the TT-33 and the CZ-52, so I was thinking, since the 7.62 is a high pressure round already, why would .38 Super or 9X23 be a problem, especially since 9X23 has such a strong case and uses small rifle primers (the weak point would be using pistol primers). And since the mags and grip is already long enough for the longer .38 Super and 9X23 cases....I wonder if the mags would work, they should without too much problem I would think.

There was also a gunsmith who made a round called .223 timm(sp?) It was supposed to be able to be fired form a cz 52. It used a plastic sabot to hold a smaller bullet. It was supposed to be able to be fired without changing the barrel or mag.

I'm not really interested in that. I'll think I'll buy a 9mm barrel and have the chamber reamed. Then the first time I fire some 9X23 I'll hold the gun really high so the slide doesn't impact into my forehead. 
Seriously though, the 9X23 specs at 580ft/lbs are really not much different than the hot subgun rounds that got fired through these things, though the current production S&B is around 420 ft/lbs or so I believe. ???

The 223 timbs is a 7.62 x 25 loaded with a 30 cal sabot around a 223 bullet., I have heard accuracy varies from dismal to wonderful.

According to Makarov.com, 9mm Largo barrels have been available in the past and have been used with excellent results. However, even though the 9mm Largo happens to be 9x23mm, it is loaded to lower pressures than the 9x23 Winchester.
Regardless, I agree that the 9x23 Win should be able to be used in the CZ-52 without any danger, since PCRCCW and Wondernine are absolutely right about the relative cartridge pressures. The M48 7.62x25mm is a very powerful cartridge.

That is true, that is why I'm thinking more along the lines of 9X23 than .38 Super. Even though it is a stronger round than .38 Super (in general) the CZ's roller mechanism should be able to take it easily. What I would be worried about is the thin chamber wall. However the 9X23 case is incredibly strong, so the thin chamber wall because of the cutouts for the rollers should not be a problem. This is all in theory of course.....

For what it's worth, I remember reading that the 9mm conv bbl fell out of favor because it was destroying the roller mechanism. Someone had been manf. new, harder replacment rollers to combat this. Wish I could remember more for 'ya.

Let not your heart be troubled. Hard rollers are just a "makarov.com" away...they have all of the goodies youll want for the CZ52. And they arent that much money.

Your right about the SubGun stuff....we chrono'd some of ammo at well over 550 FPE from the CZ52.
