How about a mini-14

When it comes to homestead defense, the Mini is powerfully effective at engaging targets from 0 to 30 feet.

Hi guys

Sorry I havent replied, my internet hasnt been working. Ive only put maybe 200 rds through it and I only had 1 problem and that was a ftf. I dont know if it was an ammo problem or gun problem though. As far as accuracy goes I dont know how good it really is. I really only shoot at shorter distances but I shot at 100 yds once but my eyesight isnt that great so the results werent that great. The only thing I dont like about the gun is when my brass gets tossed across town and I cant find it. Other than that I really like shooting it.

Decided to do it

We have one AR 15 in the family so if I get the urge I can.

I have a number of lever 30-30s and one 300 Savage, the Ruger NRA version kind of did it for me for some reason. Bought it from Bud's and just picked it up last week. Unfortunately it may be a few weeks before I will be able to put it through its paces as we are in the throes of moving. Got my first 10/22 as-well. Good for the economy and Ruger. :D

Anyone shoot Georgia Arms ammo through their Mini? Any recommendations for a good 75 yard round?

Here is a stock photo.

I have two mini's that are super fun to shoot and extremely reliable, but my two AR's will shoot circles around them all day long. I am not getting rid of my mini's like everybody told me that I would when I bought my first AR, I am just not shooting them nearly as much anymore. I also don't ponder my next mini purchase like I do my next AR purchase.

I have a Bushmaster AR and a Mini 14. My Mini out shoots and out handles the Bushmaster hands down along with a lot of ARs i see guys shooting at the range. These are the must have mods for a Mini trigger job you can send your trigger group out and have it done for about 50 dollars. I did mine and many others with a small pencil tourch just heat the center of the main spring an till you see a small red dot and let it cool. This will reduce the trigger pull to a manageable 4 LB pull. I have shot thousands since doing this with no problums. Install a barrel strut you can buy them ready made i think they sell for 175 dollars i made mine i used two Tacstar flash mounts, Greatneck flashlight, and some rubber plugs i bought at Ace Hardware. The barrel strut not only works as a barrel stiffener it all so works as a heat sink. MY strut cost me 50 dollars to make. Buy a set of ASI reduced gas port bushings i used the .045 bushing. Make front and rear buffers out of vacum cleaner belts. Install a muzzle break. You can find all of these how-tos at http://www.perfectunion.com/vb/.

I love the look of the NRA mini. Though about getting one, but my current interest is in AR's.

The only thing I dont like about the gun is when my brass gets tossed across town and I cant find it.
I bump fired my mini and it was throwing brass about 60 feet laterally and 15 feet in the air. You could get an adjustable gas block, or even a new bushing with a smaller hole to replace the standard one. If you do take off the gas block, it's probably a good idea to get an inch pound torque wrench and make sure the bolts are evenly torqued to spec.
