How are bass pro shops?

The ones in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale have nice selections.

Been in Bass Pro in Dania, just south of Fort lauderdale. They are ok. The prices aren't that great, and the selection leaves something to be desired. I guess if they have what you're looking for, then ok, but other than that...

It depends on what kind of rifle. The only bass pro shop in my area will not carry anything EBR related. "Grandpa's old hunting rifles" only.
Theone in Concord NC, is pretty good. There is a guy there that works on the weekends there. Most knowledgable person they have. His name is Larry Posey. If you are there on Fri. Sat., or Sun. talk to him and tell him Tommy sent you. Heck, those guys know me by my first name!

I've been in a couple of Bass Pro Shops and my general impression is that their prices are at, or very near, list.
I have not yet tried to work a deal with them, though.
Were I to do so (and I likely will at some point) I will do a bit of research to find what that particular firearm is typically selling for.

Bass Pro is a good store with very decent prices on firearms and ammo. They can also special order firearms which they might not have in stock. The customer service in the Fort Lauderdale branch stinks, but I believe this is a regional thing. Every single store in the area has awful customer service.

In Hampton, Virginia the prices aren't good but they aren't ridiculous. They have very few handguns and no EBRs or milsurp. They aim towards higher-end hunters.

Just figure that you're going to be paying for all the fancy mounts, artwork, etc. The one in my area has THE highest prices around. Period. The smaller tackle shop in Hammond beats Bass Pro reel, lure, and tackle prices by 15-20%.
As for firearms, the local gun shop ran an ad comparing their prices to Bass Pro. They beat every gun by $20-40 or more.
As for service, it's only as good or bad as the individual. There are employees of Bass Pro that bring their bows to the local archery dealer to get them worked on.
If you want clothing or a pre-packaged boat they're probably OK

The one in Dania Beach has decent prices. What I find great is the specials they run. If you stop in from time to time you can find some great deals on their special priced firearms.

Look at it like this, who is paying for all the stuffed animals, aquariums, and other displays? Plus, the new one near here (Prattville, Al.) has 10% sales tax to offset the tax breaks given it by the city.
Haven't been over yet to check out selection, but they would have to have a helluva deal to offset the tax.

I used to work at the first store in Springfield, Mo, back when it was the only store.
They cater to hunters so they carry lots of rifles and shotguns, everything from .22 to 10ga. Prices are usually pretty good, service just depends on who you get. Most employees are not high paid professionals.
The Springfield store has recently expanded it's handgun selection. They went from just a select group of revolvers, to a pretty good selection of semi-autos too. They had the Charles Daly High Power for $399 last time I was there.

The one in Myrtle Beach is decent, with a nice selection of bolt-actions, shotguns, revolvers (no snub-nose, oddly), and autopistols.
All are priced at MSRP. It's the only store in the area that doesn't try to screw you (as hard).

Mine has a great handgun selection with everything from Glocks to Smith and Wesson 500s.

But, good luck getting to the counter anytime soon since they never have enough personnel to handle the amount of volume and the employees like to swap lies as much as the customers do. Which greatly extends your waiting time, and is frustrating if you don't need your hand held or care what the cashier thinks.

While I have not been to all of the stores, I have found the one in Springfield MO to be the best. What I mean is the friendliest people and best service with a pretty good selection of guns at reasonable prices. My guess is it is because that ones the flagship store and corporate headquarters.

There is one in my hometown and they have a very large selection of long guns and a small selection of hand guns. . . although it is NY so it's not too surprising about the handguns.
They recently had a nice sale where they were selling Ruger 10/22s for $140. My brother got one and he said they were selling em all day long by the cartful. There was one guy on the phone all day just doing NICS checks. Bro said you filled out the paperwork then waited about an hour for your NICS to go through, just because of the sheer volume of sales they were doing that day.

The new one here in So. Cal. does not have the most impressive firearm selection. I think they have a thing against semi-auto rifles larger than a .22.
Their handgun selection isn't that great either. The rest of the firearms/hunting department is great!
For firearms, I'll stick to Turners. (the people are friendlier anyway).

The mesa az store seems decent but i didn't
see any subcompact pistols or EBR's.The
ammo prices were just ok,i was more excited
to find pants,shirts and shorts in my size that
don't cost a arms and a leg.
