I remember that everyone jumped on them when they were relieced. After a few weeks of plinking, i recall seeing a few reports of cracked bolts ect.

Now that they have been out for a good while, how is yours holding up? how many thousand rounds do you have through it? Id love to pick up a GSG5-K if they are standing the test of time.

its doing pretty much as good as the day i bought her. occasional stovepipe here and there are all i can complain about.

but so far, several thousand rounds have been pumped through her, and no cracks or breaks

I own the rifle version with about 1k flawless rounds through it, it's a great shooter and loads of fun. I just picked up nine 22rd mags for it:evil: I've had mine since November of '08 but I only had one mag for it until recently so I didn't shoot a whole lot. Now that I have a bunch of mags I plan to use it a lot more.

The only issue that will cause them to malfunction is if you hold the mag while firing, if you don't do that then the gun will cycle just fine.

My buddy owns both the rifle and just bought the PK. He has about 6k rounds through the rifle and about 1k through the PK. The PK has yet to malfunction on him and the rifle has only malfunctioned a couple times. He went almost 2k rounds between cleanings at one point and the gun continued to cycle flawlessly!

I had the PK for a short time but got rid of it because the rifle is all I need. However another friend of mine just picked up the PK a couple weeks ago and has already put about 500 issue free rounds through his so far.

In all I couldn't be more impressed with the GSG's. They are fun to shoot, extremely reliable, accurate, cheap to shoot and a pretty good value for the money.

i agree with nwilliams, we have both had good experiences with the GSG, however, i can hold my rifle by the mag and it will not jam, i think maybe it might be due to the magazines fault on my end, it still is a very VERY new firearm to the field, a very new design, so it will have its share of flaws here and there, but hopefully over time they will continue to produce more GSGs and fix what we are troubleshooting now. my advice to ANYONE, if you see one at a shop, BUY IT, you will never feel any regret, IMHO of course

What with the "bolt cracking" issues I read about, is there a "new run" of them where they fixed that potential problem, or....?

I have over 1k rounds through mine and it has run very well. It has had a few stove pipes but way fewer issues than either of the 10/22s I have. I dont regret buying it in the least and might well buy a PK version.

That bolt cracking issue was never really validated. It was circulated on the internet for a while with some questionable pics but th whole thing seemed to die as quickly as it appeared. There's plenty of discussion on the different forums as to the validity of the whole bolt cracking claim.
