I'd ask this question on Falfiles.com, but for some reason, the moderators there wont activate my account. I'm registered, but I can't post. I've emailed them about it three times w/o response.
Anyways, I put Israeli handguards on my FAL, but it does not have a full length gas tube. It's the shorter, soldered on tube, so the piston and spring are exposed. Do I need an additional extension tube soldered on, or can I leave it this way? Would firing it this way be bad for the rifle in any way? I know the piston being exposed makes it vulnerable to sand, debris, etc., but if it's only a range gun, can I just leave it this way?
Thanks.
