My father bought it used in the early 60s, and now I have it. It was his deer rifle, and I have many good memories of us going hunting. I just got curious exactly what it's history might be. Thanks.

Winchester breaks down when their rifles were made by serial number. If you give us your serial number someone here could look it up and tell you.
Some people leave out the last three digits and replace them with XXX for security reasons. Other people think people who do that are paranoid. But take your pick.

Thanks. I don't remember ever getting such a prompt response to a post. The serial # is 1615063, and it is a 32 special.

I forgot the website but one had a table listing serial numbers for model 94's found out mine was made in 1922.

Dang. My book, The Winchester Handbook by George Madis, doesn't go that high in serial ##s. Extrapolating from what I have I would guess early 1950s ... maybe 1951, 52 or so.

EDIT. I see JMR40 beat me to it. Oh well, I wasn't too far off.

Thanks everyone

I didn't realize it was that old. I would have thought late 50s, and it's good to know it was actually 1949. I just know my dad bought it used around 62 or 63. I don't hunt any more, but I'll be taking it to the range one of these days for old times sake.
