are there any distinctive differences present in a acusport bisley that can differentiate them from a standard ruger single action blackhawk???

i just recently purchased an acusport bisley in 45acp/45lc and i just had a suspicion that the dealer i bought it from is not too honest...

i just thought that maybe the fella i bought it from just replaced hammer and grip frame of a regular blackhawk and tried to pawn that off as an acusport...

i will describe some weird features of my specific gun...it has some scrollwork done on the 45lc unfluted cylinder...no scrollwork on the 45acp fluted cylinder...

also, the strangest feature of my gun, is that the warnings usually found on the side of ruger barrels are actually on the underside of the barrel on my gun...

so fellas, can you tell me if i got a genuine acusport bisley???

thanks for your time...

It will be stainless steel, have a 5 1/2 inch barrel, and adjustable sights. Your gun is a .45 Colt convertible which means the .45 Colt cylinder has the roll marks. The second cylinder of the convertibles are always fluted. Also for many years folks have complained loudly about the lawyer billboard on the barrels and Ruger finally listed by putting the warning on the underside of the barrel where it's not so easily seen.
So you do have a genuine Accusport Bisley if it follows along these lines.

thanks magic...all features you describe can be found in my gun...my mind is at rest now...thanks again...

Okay, so now I gotta ask, what's the difference between an Accusport Bisley and every other Ruger Bisley, or was this particular configuration just a special 45LC/45ACP package that only they offered?
And isn't the difference between an adjustable sighted Bisley and any Blackhawk just the grip frame, hammer, and trigger?

well, i think that a stainless bisley does not exist, excpet for in the acusport format...well, the only other stainless bisleys would be the hunter models in 41 and 44 magnum, but they are not true bisleys...they are just ruger hunters with the bisley grip frame and hammer...

someone please correct me if i am wrong....

Warning under the barrel is a sure sign it's of recent vintage...definitely 2006 or forward, as that was the first year I heard of any of these shipping in any Ruger.

The other thing is...if the gun appears well-put-together, good action, good metal fit, passes checkout, why worry if it was custom-brewed or not? Rugers are great platforms for modifications and as long as it all went together OK, it'll turn out at least as good as a factory specimen. I'm not afraid of "FrankenRugers" at all, except that I would only buy one I could hand-inspect unless it was a "known big name" gunsmithing project: Linebaugh, Bowen, Stroh, Huntington or a few others.

The Acusport models are also the only ones yet to have a stainless Bisley rollmarked cylinder. these are my favorite mdoels. Got 7 now and eagerly awaiting more.
