I have a chance to buy a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk. This gun has a .45ACP and .45 Colt cylinder included. Can I use the .45 Colt cylinder to shoot the same "hot" loads as a regular Ruger Bisley? I have been looking for a .45 Colt to use for a hunting sidearm and really like the look of this gun - I just want to be sure that I can shoot the hot stuff in it when I want to. The .45ACP is just a bonus !

Thanks!

Yes. That must be one of the stainless Acusport Bisleys with a 5 1/2 inch barrel? If so, it is one the "older" large frame and can handle the hot loads just fine.

If it is the 5.5" stainless bisley with both cylinders, JUMP ON IT!!!

I love mine and want to find an ACP cylinder for it sometime.

Thanks, guys. One of those things that instantly made me afraid because of how good it appeared to be !

I have one of the earlier SS .45 Bisleys with only the .45 Colt cylinder. I called Ruger and they won’t put in the .45 ACP cylinder, but I have several SS NMBHs with .45 ACP cylinders that have been trimmed to allow the use of .45 AR as well. They are a lot of fun to play with at the range.

Ruger blackhawks are fantastic firearms. The bisley models are the BEST handgun at handling HEAVY recoil from heavily loaded .45 Colt roungs. REALLY good hunting firearms. The convertables are great options and afford tons of fun and practice at lower costs. BUY IT NOW! Enjoy!

The only Ruger .45 Colt that can't take heavy loads is the new Vaquero, everything else can handle any published loads.

Those Acusport Bisley's are awesome! Got 7 of them myself. Aside from the grip/trigger and hammer they're the same as any other large framed Ruger SA in terms f strength. They all use the same cylinder frame and cylinders.

Yup; the accusport bisleys are really super at heavy loads. I shoot 250 grain bullets out of my .41 mag at thundering velocities and it just rolls and drops and says, "thank you sir, may I have another!!"

If you have it in .45 colt though, I don't really see the advantage of the .45 acp. I mean, you do reload, right? If you don't, you need to get the gun and get set to reload for it. THAT is the combination to die for.

I picked one of these up this week myself. Actually "picked up" is a bit premature as I haven't gotten it yet, but it's in transit.

I'm not sure if this model was "commissioned" (or whatever the term is) by AccuSport or Lippeys. I've seen reports that would lend credence to both.

The 5 1/2" stainless Bisleys were a distributor edition made for Acusport, hence them being called "Acusport Bisleys". Lipsey's had a run of 45 Colt Hunetrs a few years back. One variant was in a Bisley configuration. Davidson's also had a special run of Hunters made in the regualr and Bisley configurations but thiers were in .41 magnum
