How common is a misfeed in a Beretta 96?

I took my Beretta 96 Brig. out the other day. I was shooting the cheap, 100 box of Winchester 165 grain. I had one round not fully feed into the chamber. I racked the slide, it popped out and I went on to the next one. Didn't have a problem the rest of the day. I have put roughly 1.000-1.500 rounds threw the gun. I have never had a similar problem and I have shot just about everything. PMC, Fiocci, UMC, Speer Lawmen, CCI. What do you guys think?

I just think that it was a freak accurance. There is probabl;y nothing wrong with the Beretta. Every now and then you will get a bad round in the value packs. Did you keep the ejected round? If so, it it look any different than the others?

One failure to feed in 1000 to 1500 rounds is just not a problem.

If I can get a 1911 to run consecutively for 200-250 times without a jam, I consider it a good gun.

heh. the bhp i tried out at the range today got progressively worse, to the point where at the end, it was jamming, failing to feed, failing to extract, or SOMETHING every two or three rounds.

i'm led to believe that's not normal behavior

rather more surprisingly to me, the 22/45 we rented jammed or failed to feed a few times as well. i figure maybe i was limpwristing the 9, but the 22?

One thing to keep in mind is never... ever... EVER EVER EVER judge the reliability of a platform on the basis of a filthyass rental gun...

I don't handload - yet - but I bought a 9mm gage(their spelling)from Dillon for just this phenomenon: most of my shooting firends think I'm obsessive:
I drop each 9mm factory round that I buy in the gage....about one out of 1,000 are too big to slide in...I've found "fat" cartridges in Win. Value Pack, Speer Lawman, American Eagle and PMP; I also have bought re-loads from friends who handload....I found a higher rate of oversize cases in "home-made" ammo, so, I don't buy it anymore. BTW, I bought a case of the new Blazer Brass in 9mm: no "fat" cases, yet. It takes a little effort, but I know every round I fire will fit the chamber(s).

Not as uncommon as the same in a 92.

same gun -96 blue brig (I mention that it is blue, because some Inox parts are prone to failure from what I read on the beretta forum (the slide release in inox?)) and can't remember a single time it's jamed or done anything unusual.

Have run it through the many newbies I've taken to the range and they haven't had any issues either.
