How did I do? Pawn shop 22/45

I saw a Ruger Mk II 22/45 Target model at a pawn shop Thursday, stainless w/ 5.5" bull barrel. No box, 1 magazine, definitely used. The front sight blade has a ding, and there is some minor rust that I am planning to clean up. Looks like this was somebody's truck pistol or something. I am cleaning it up though, and think it will finish out respectable, but I don't expect a showpiece. That's OK though, guns are built to be shot in my book, not looked at.

Got it for $214 out the door. Looked on Ruger's website after I got it home, and the serial number dates it to 1993.

So how did I do? Was that a good price, average price, or bad price? I haven't seen many prices on these older Mark II 22/45s to compare.

Average. I bought a MkII 22/45 5.5" stainless 5 years ago for $200 on consignment. It'll be a good shooter, enjoy.

BTW if you get a few more magazines, consider the Ultimate Cliploader. Really cuts down load time.

Around here, that's a great price. Local store has one for 299.00 and I'm contemplating buying that one. I like the MK2s much better than the others.

The last used one I saw was marked $215, and this was at a very fair reputable shop.

I paid 199.00 out the door for my 22/45 5.5" bull, blue, barrel model 15yrs ago.
I'd say you did ok, not a steal, but a good deal

It's a respectable price. It's possible the Mark IIs will appreciate pretty soon. Some people prefer the design over the current Mark III and, as I understand it, the supply of parts used to retrofit the Mark III are starting to dry up.

I think you can pick up the Mark III 22/45 new for under $300, but the price for .22's seems to have been creeping lately, so I dunno.

It's actually my 2nd Ruger .22LR pistol in a little over a month. I bought a new Mark III standard from the same pawn shop about 5 or 6 weeks ago, and have enjoyed shooting it. I have read how many people prefer the Mark II version, without the mag safety and chamber indicator, so when I saw this one I thought "why not get BOTH?!?"

Mark IIs don't seem to appear often around here for sale used, so I wasn't sure what the "going price" would be. But I wanted this one b/c it's stainless and has the bull barrel. My Mark III is tapered and blued, with the short 4" barrel. Right now I am thinking that the Mark III might be my woods gun, and the 22/45 will be my target gun. Another way of rationalizing it was that now I don't have to take turns shooting the same .22 pistol at the range with my wife.

And yes I think an Ultimate Cliploader purchase is in my near future.
