How did you abuse your EDC knife? We always hear about I carry this or I carry that for my EDC right. But tell us great unwashed how you used it this weekend? I’ll Start.
Cold Steel Tanto Medium SE blade.
1). Used it to open up the instant coffee package that’s harder than a brick. Then I started a cut on my Banana so that it would peel correctly.
2). Later in the day I used it to slice open 20 bags of mulch. This got the knife extremely dirty and I had to wash it later.
3). Broke down a refrigerator box at my Grandpa’s. Can’t beat a SE blade for sawing through a bunch of cardboard.
4). Cut threw some Kudzu that was in my way on my daily walk on the W/O trail. Also tried to do a snap cut at a hovering Cicada, but missed.
5). Cut some Roses for my girl that grow by the Starbucks ; )
Well that’s it. That’s my EDC knifes big Saturday. What did ours do?

cut various packaging material from paper to plastic film
1" wild cherry branch for marshmallow roasting
cut 1/2" nylon rope to make anchor line
cut old garden hose to protect nylon rope
spent a little time under water in the lake clipped to my shorts

While helping my friend wire his garage Saturday I used it to break up some dirt/clay under the conduit we had to bury in order to run lines to the detached garage. The trench wasn't exactly level so some parts of the conduit weren't sitting flush.
While I was doing this my sister in law dulled out my utility/razor knife by scraping paint with it and I didn't have any extra blades. That left me with no choice but to go get new blades or use my EDC as a wire stripping tool.
I guess I was just too lazy to go to the hardware store. :p

i EDC a victorinox soldier and a meyerco paradox and both had a pretty rough weekend.

the soldier:
-trimmed up my nails while waiting for the bus
-cut several errant threads on my jeans while on the bus
-opened a dozen boxes sealed with paper-backed masking tape at work
-opened the parcel package my Inova X1 flashlight came in
-opened the plastic case my Inova X1 was sealed in that probably would withstand some hits from a .50BMG and still stay sealed. stupid tough platic protecting my flashlight.
-used the bottle opener to open about 40 beer bottles for my friends saturday night
-used the can opener to take the top off of a coke can to make a spitter for my tobacco-dipping girlfriend.
-cut a few soup cans in half to display the amazing sharpness of my knife, later spent an hour of so with the lansky fixing damage.

the paradox:
-was lent to my neighbor to trim up his bushes, came back covered in dirt and indiscernible plant matter.
-sliced an apple into pieces after thorough washing.
-opened box of raisin bran
-opened bag of raisin bran within box
-used pliers to snip some wires for my computer
-used the screwdriver to reassemble computer
-popped open my door after forgetting my keys in the house again.
-tripped, dropped knife and then kicked it in the curb in one svelte motion. the handle has some wounds and the blade is a little scratched but i'm not too worried about it since it still pops the hair off my arm and i have two back-ups waiting in the wings should something catastrophic happen. i loves the 5$ knife that works as well as my 70$ griptilian.
