I have one and I like the idea of it but it prints like mad on me. I wouldn't even consider carrying ccw with it for that reason. Maybe it's my body shape or something - I'm 6 ft about 190, medium build. You guys who carry it, are you the broad-shouldered, small wasted types?

(oh by the way, I'm not talking about their funky IWB rig but the more standard one)

The only OWB holsters I can ccw with are holsters like the raven phantom type holsters (my all around favorite) or custom leather pieces that hold the gun high and tight. Other than that, I prefer anything along the lines of a crossbreed style IWB holster.

It is all in how you dress. Honestly, I' don't like wearing clothes that are so loose fitting that they cover up a fobus or blackhawk style holster. I'd rather buy a different holster or switch to a smaller platform.

I don't think they (or most of the kydex paddle-type holsters) are really made for concealed carry. As you said, they print way too much. They seem a lot more popular for open carry or shooting sports where printing is irrelevant. I don't currently have a Fobus (but have in the past), but I have very similar type holsters by Blackhawk, Uncle Mike's, and RSR Defense, and they're strictly range/hunting holsters for me.

My carry holsters are mostly leather. Its thinner, conforms the the gun more closely, and when worn IWB (which is what I prefer if wearing a gun on my hip) it's a LOT more comfortable.

I wear a jacket over my shirt. That's about the only way to carry with an OWB holster and not print.

IWB works 10,000x better... and if you get the right size pants, good holster, and good belt, it's probably 80% as comfortable as OWB.

I only use mine when I'm going to be wearing a jacket. So, yeah, mostly range/wood use. I had a Fobus, but I'm currently using a Blackhawk. I usually carry my Glock in a hard leather OWB holster so it doesn't print, but I like to store it daily in the Blackhawk when I put it away in the safe for the night. I like the nice form fitting nature of it with the positive click of the button lock.

and one size larger than you would otherwise wear.

Yep...I can't do that, though. I find it horribly uncomfortable for some reason and it just bothers me. Call me crazy. I once dressed around the gun, but now I'd rather not let the gun dictate my dress. I'm fine carrying a snub nose revolver and a couple of speed strips in the summer and my glock 19 along with one spare 17 mag in the winter....I don't feel under-gunned at all.

I can't carry IWB at all, so I carry OWB, myself. MyFobus really isn't that good for it, either. I ended up with a Leather slideholster that tucks the gun nicely. Even the ones with the retention devices don't hide it quite as well.
The whole push for IWB is aimed at .... I don't know who, but I guess I'm not built like any gun writer. Because it doesn't work.

Lol, yes it does. You haven't found the right gear to make it work for you, or you're shaped like an upside down pear and have no butt to hold your pants up. I carry IWB regularly without issue, and it conceals VERY well as opposed to OWB.

I'll readily admit that IWB isn't as comfortable now that I have lost weight and became more fit. I think the love handles acted as a cushion. :)

It depends on the gun. I personally thought that way when I was looking at my P95 and Glocks and other "regular" guns. There ain't no way I could get one of those in my waistline without bulging/printing and being as uncomfortable as I can imagine. When you look at the very slim single-stack guns though, IWB can work (at least for me). My carry gun 99% of the time is an LCP. I can always pocket carry it, but I find it gets in the way there when also carrying my keys, cell-phone, etc since I have to move all those into the same pocket and keep the gun separate. In a small Safariland IWB holster though, that gun slips into the belt (no size-up in the pants required) and you barely know its there. I've also started carrying a Makarov IWB recently which also is very workable.

Its all in the gun you chose. Like ForumSurfer though, I'm all about working the gun around what I'm wearing, and NOT the other way around. Just my personal viewpoint and others are free to have their own, but my gun is only there as insurance. When I start picking out my clothes in the morning (and ESPECIALLY when I'm still shopping for them) based around carrying a firearm, then I'm letting it have too strong an impact on my life. IE, the gun is there to protect my life, not to become my life. YMMV.

I have tried three different paddle holsters in my lifetime and all three went straight into the holster drawer. They print way too much for CCW.

I wear IWB 99.9% of the time and I carry every day. Attached are a few pics of the more comfortable setups I have. And by more comfortable I mean truely forget you have them on (some were taken in a mirrow and some weren't).

If you buy a $20 holster and then can't figure out why it is uncomfortable then you should not attempt IWB carry.

If you want to carry IWB then spend some money to get a quality holster, quality "gun belt" and buy your pants one size larger. I have been carrying for so many years I don't even have any pants that fit without a holster in them.

Hope this helps

I have been carrying IWB for about 25 years about 95 %..

Of the time and find it very comfortable and easy to access the pistol. I carry the Colt Magnum Carry and switch to the Glock 19 when I feel I may need more shots. I wear pants with a little larger waist size. I find that the compact size handguns are much easier for me IWB than the "full" size guns. IWB carry is not for everyone because of varying body size and build. It is a personal decision that one has to experiment with.

Doc, do you have a paddle Fobus?

Pardon my ignorance LD, I believe it's the paddle. Here's a pic of the kind I have.

That's a paddle.

I own several Fobus paddle holsters but I don't consider them to be concealable. They're good range holsters.

The best OWB holster I've used that is good at being concealable is a pancake holster. True pancake designs are flat, wide and pull the gun tight against the side, minimizing the lump-on-the-hip of other designs. Rob Leahy of Simply Rugged Holsters makes a great pancake holster, by the way.

I found this excellent series of ccw videos.
If this tiny woman can pack an SP 101, we all should be up to the task of a GP 100.
I only carry owb with my 640 and a De Santis belt holster or a Roy Baker for the Browning HP . Paddles don't work either for ccw. Bullman, Milt Sparks, Galco , and Crossbreed work IWB for me.
I plan on trying the Simply Rugged soon.
