Just have a little side project going on, and I need the get the barrel off of this old dept store shotgun. I got the stock off, but now what? Is it the hinge pin I need to focus on? It has a slot in it, but it only turns about an 1/8th of a direction either way. Am I barking up the wrong tree, or is it just being stubborn? Ideas?
How do I get the barrel off this old single shot?

Yep.
Close the gun.
Put the wood back on.
Then just pull down on the front of the forearm and the whole thing will "snap" off.
The curved spring is the "snapper" that holds the forend on the barrel.
Then open the action and the barrel will unhook from the receiver.

Guys the forearm screws on and off... it doesnt look like the barrel will just unhook from the action, unless I am just totally missing something...which is quite possible.
The screw/pin with the long narrow slot is what the whole thing is hinged upon, but it doesnt seem to want to turn, and I dont even know that it needs to turn. Maybe these pictures will help some.
What do you think?

I think you need to go back and read my other post.
The curved spring on the forearm hanger iron still on the barrel will "un-snap" the forearm from the barrel if you will put the wood back on and pull down on the front end of it.
Then open the action and unhook the barrel from the receiver pin.

Yes...put the fore end wood back on as Rc said. Grasp the muzzle end of the fore end and pull down. It will unlatch and release the barrel. Don't put effort into twisting at the barrel pivot pin. You will only booger up the screw slot and leave unsightly damage.
I assure you that is how it comes apart. It may be quite tight...but simply put the butt stock between your knees...grasp the barrel for support... grasp the fore end and pull down. You may find that applying pressure with your thumb on top of the fore end will assist in getting it moving.
