I recently traded for a S&W AR (M&P15) and it had a clamp with a side-facing sling swivel that I want to remove ( I'm assuming this is an after-market accessory). It clamps around the barrel and goes under the front sight post, I'm sure you AR guys know what I'm talking about. It's basically a squared "C" shaped piece of metal that goes around the barrel, with another piece that closes up the "C",held by two pins, and enveloping the barrel. The two pins are about the diameter of the ejector retaining pin, and about twice as long. I tried tapping out one of the two pins ,but it only budged a little, and I'm afraid I'm going to screw something up, so I backed off and came to the experts. Thanks for any help.....

Just tap one all the way out. It will take some tapping to do but it will go out. I had one on my Rock River, that I took off.

Correct. My Stag came with a similar sling attachment, and I tapped the pins out and removed it. The attachment had left some rub marks on the pakerizing on the barrel, but nothing terrible.

Gosh, I'm disappointed...I thought it was going to be something interesting like some goo in the chamber or guts seared onto the barrel. :D
