I guess it would be D) none of the above. Since it is held in by the "Cam Retaining Pin" not the firing pin or the firing pin retaining pin.

Where is the "Cam Retaining Pin"?

The "Cam Pin" is inserted in the "Bolt Carrier" and rotated.

The "Firing Pin" is inserted into the "Bolt Carrier" and through the "Cam Pin".

The "Firing Pin Retaining Pin" is inserted in the "Bolt Carrier" and keeps the "Firing Pin" from falling out.

The "Firing Pin" keeps the "Cam Pin" from rotating.

Am I missing something?

they're saying that while the fp does keep the cp from rotating when the bcg is in your hand, when you put it in the rifle, the receiver stops the cp from rotating before it can move enough to touch the fp.

i don't know if it's true or not. i don't think i've ever heard of an issue that made that bit of trivia pertinent. would be curious to hear of one.

Yup. The partridge in a pear tree.

And, the "Cam Pin" passes through the "Bolt" after the "Bolt" is inserted into the "Bolt Carrier"

The cam track that rotates the bolt is in the "Bolt Carrier". There is a relief formed in the upper for the flange on the top of the "Cam Pin" to go when the "Bolt" is rotating.

I suppose, this relief in the upper might keep the "Cam Pin" from rotating when the "Bolt" is closed and locked. When the "Bolt" is open, the slot that the "Bolt Carrier Key" may be designed such that the flange on the "Cam Pin" rides in it, keeping the "Cam Pin" from rotating.

Still, where is the "Cam Retaining Pin"?

17 is pretty clear to me also. It begins, "With the magazine out of the chamber."

That tells me the magazine was not in the rifle when the round was fired. That being the case, the bolt will not lock to the rear after the round is fired. It's quite simple.

Guys, the bolt cam is held in place by the firing pin, the firing pin is secured by the firing pin retaining pin.

ETA: OK, page two got it.

Some of those test question are poorly worded, typical test questions. A test, tests how well you take tests.
