I picked up a nikon turkey scope that is coated in apg camo. I've bought the camo'ed steel scope nikon rings along with it.

The rings do not have the protective tape inside them like you see in some other rings.

I'm considering lapping them, but would that even work against marring the camo coating? I see the coating as more delicate then polished traditional metal.

I'm shooting 3 1/2" turkey loads out of this gun so I want to make sure everything is tight and true.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Marring the camo coat should not happen if you don't mar it putting it on wrong several times and keep sliding it back and forth in the rings.

Once you tighten them, the scope should never move again, and whatever is going on under them, you can't see anyway.
