How do I put "normal" AK wooden handguards on my AMD 65?

I can't find the answer to this question anywhere.

For one, the AMD has a shorter gas tube than other AKs, and this gas tube does not have the retaining plate to secure an upper handguard. I have not been able to find one of these plates ANYWHERE. I have been looking online, and at local gun stores for months for either a direction to start with, or the parts I need, with no avail.

Also, from what I've gathered, the plate that secures the lower handguard to the barrel is different than it's "typical AK" counterpart. Is this the case, and if so, how do I get around that issue?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You will have to custom fab a gas tube with collar if you desire to use a wood gas tube cover.

The lower hand guard exchanges just like any other AK. It's the 'hand guard' that's different, not the retainer.

What about the gas tube for adding a traditional handguard to a Saiga? They've got collars welded or pressed to them. You may be able to shorten it to fit and AMD, or they may be the same size? Dinzag usually has them in stock.
