Hey, anyone with experience removing mag wells from a SA TRP 1911? How do I remove it?

Also, can I buy metal 1911 magazine floorplates to replace the rubber base pads?

And finally, a good 1911 grip source.

Thanks for any and all info :)

I can't help with the first two, but after going through a couple of grips for my TRP I settled on the Hogue wrap-around rubber grips. I think they're great. I'm a little curious about why you want to remove the mag well though. Trying to shorten it up for carry?

Hey ARlover, you can try removing the screw that holds the mag well to the main spring housing and pulling it off. They are held together by 2 pins and that screw. If you need more leverage you need to remove the grips, push out msh pin, remove the entire unit and then seperate the two. You will have three holes in the bottom of the msh so if that bothers you buy a new one. Reassemble and you are done. You can reattach the mag well now without any disassembly.

vzgrips.com has a nice grip selection.
