I'm probably going to sound like a moron for asking this but....
It's a 1947 and I've managed to break it down but while taking the barrel/slide off the bolt locks in place. How do I unlock the bolt and take it out? Thanks.

Isn't that impossible because the bolt is attached to the slide which is all attached to the barrel? As you pull the barrel off the slides comes with it and locks the bolt in place

sorry mossberglad, i gave wrong info. i just went and took barrel of my model 12 and my bolt is also locked in place. i will play around with it and see if i can decipher why.

rcmodel:

Is is merely "Ruger MKI/II/II bad" or full-fledged "Remington Nylon 66 bad" to disassemble?

You need to have the barrel and magazine off. The bolt will be locked. remove the trigger assembly. Now you can see the bolt and you need a pick or a small screwdriver. With the bottom facing up you will find a small lever along the right side of the bolt. Just push it slightly inward and the bolt will release. Once you see it you won;t forget how:cool: Oh yea, Watch where the shell latch goes when you take out the trigger. It willl fall out.

Remington Nylon 66:
The only firearm I ever owned that ended up as a "bag full of gun" and an embarrassed look on my face as I brought it to the gunsmith.

Reposting because I forgot one other "little" thing. The ejector needs to be removed also before taking out the bolt. This is a tricky little operation but if you are even slightly mechanically inclined it all makes sense. Good luck. This is one gun that just amazes me every time I look at it. Why can't they still make stuff this COOL?
