How do I Shoot Things That Come Out After Dark>

There are no local ordinances, period. County, city, whatever. They don't exist.

There is a new wrinkle to things, however. I just found out a 2016 change to the state law says you can be charged with a felony for shooting in densely populated areas (more than one dwelling unit per acre) IF there is a reasonable chance someone could be hurt. The exception says you can still shoot:

"If, under the circumstances, the discharge does not pose a reasonably foreseeable risk to life, safety, or property."

This was expected, because leftists were flipping out over people shooting in their yards.

"A farm of 34 acres may be fine - a lot will depend on which county and their regulations regarding as to when you can discharge a firearm (and they CAN regulate that)."

Totally wrong.

Id be "flipping out" if i had some loon shooting in my yard too. :) And i fly with both wings not just the left or right. :)

Your county can't regulate firearms. If they're trying, they're breaking the law. I can tell you this 50 times, and you can keep denying it, but the statute is clear.

Who said anything about shooting in your yard? You misunderstand. People were upset about individuals shooting in their own yards, as I plan to do right after I finish this sandwich.

If you too close to other houses it creates safety issues and also disturbing the peace. If you have neighbors so close to you that both can stand on their porch and have a conversation then go to a gun range. I don't blame those yuppie, left wing, pot smoking, peace lovin hippies cause its unsafe and disturbing a quite life. :) :) Nothing like trying to sleep after working 3rd shift and having the neighbor shooting high powered rifles for hours on end when his back deck is 50ft from yours. Another concern would be where are those bullets going? My jackass shoots onto someone else property so who knows whos back there walking around.

George, I can see you are not going to look up the statute or the law (as I did) so God bless you and your very firm opinion. Everyone is entitled to say things on Internet forums without backing them up.

Ohihunter, the legality of shooting in one's yard and the question of whether it's good manners are two different issues. I recommend that you also look at the statute before posting. It addresses the issue of shooting onto other people's property.
