How do I start a shooting club?

It appears my friends, that my efforts have been rewarded. I started my new position on December 29th of last year. From that day forward, I have taken over half of the employees of the corporate office to the range, converted many antis, and become the personal "gun guy" to most of our corporate officers. Luckily, most of our company is ex military of one sort or another, so familiarity with firearms is not uncommon. I've corrupted our Chief Commercial Officer so badly that he asked me to help him pick a pistol. We spent an afternoon going through just about every handgun known to man and he decided to buy one identical to the one I used to introduce him to shooting... a Sig P226ST. I've also scheduled the CCW classes for him and his wife, taught him about and helped him select a safe storage device, and will be showing him how to break down and clean the pistol next week. But I digress.

Our Chief Operating Officer came to me today and asked me to start a formal shooting club within our company with the goal to educate safely, those on our staff who would like to learn to shoot, learn about the use of firearms for self defense, and just generally get some more range time in. FYI, for those who have been following my GI 1911 thread, this is the same gent who owns the Remington Rand.

My questions for you are:

Has anyone here ever started a shooting club?

How do I go about getting one established?

What are the considerations?

Man, that is awesome. Asked by your boss to create a corporate shooting club. Could it get any better than that?

I've just started an IDPA discipline within a larger shooting club, so I might be of some help. We didn't have to deal with anything like insurance and the like, as we're under the umbrella of the club's policy, so I'm not going to be any help there. It was, and is, an ongoing political nightmare fighting all the old crusties who don't "go for all that 'quick-draw' stuff" (yes, that was a direct quote), but all-in-all a successful start.

What kind of questions do you have specifically?

I'd think your first issue is: where to shoot. After that, what do you want to accomplish with the club? You'll need a direction to head off in. A goal for the club. Who are your customers/members going to be and what are their needs? What format will your shoots take? Small groups/class-type atmosphere? Larger match-type atmosphere (you'll need help)?
