Shooting with Jerry Miculek

This past week-end I had the pleasure of competing with Jerry Miculek. Our club held a 3-Gun competition and Jerry participated. Normally we only get local shooters, but Jerry is a friend of Benny Hill, and Benny is a friend of one of our club members, so they both came down from Corpus Christi to shoot.

I've been watching Jerry on TV for years, but seeing him shoot in person was incredible. He was also very courteous and friendly. He even helped us reset the stages between shooters and shared in the duties of an RO. If you didn't know who he was, you would have thought that he was just one of the club members.

Hanging-out with him for a day was a once in a lifetime experience for me, and I wanted to share it with the rest of you.

In years past , I have had the honor of shooting with some of the best Grand-Masters of IPSC --- Jerry Miculek , Jerry Barnhart , Rob Leatham , and quite a few others ------- as a whole , they ALL were great Sportmens , helped on every stage , and gave free advice just for the asking.

Jerry, Jerry, and Rob are all nice guys and fine sportsmen. We should all be proud to have them as the great champions they are of our chosen sport.

All three are also reknowned instructors in their disciplines. I've trained under Miculek and Leatham, and hope to also have the opportunity to take a Barnhart class one day.

Few if any of us will ever get to play golf against Tiger Woods, let alone get coaching from him on the links. We should be grateful that in our sport, we can do both with Jerry Miculek, Jerry Barnhart, and Rob Leatham.
