2 of my Piettas shot low to the left, the Rogers and spencer shoots high to the left.

How do you guys adjust the point of impact?

In the image the top target all points of aim were at the blue X, the lower one i first aimed at the bull and it shot way off to the left so then i started to change my point of aim to the black X's i think the one that hit the bull i aimed way low to the right.

In my Colt, I cut a 'V' notch in my Colt's hammer sight slightly off center to the right and deeper to adjust for the Colt's passion for shooting high and left. For the front sight I raised it slightlly by taping it out of its slot and placing a small amout of JB Weld on it to raise it slightly. The Remington and other top strap revolvers you can only adjust the front sight by having it dovetailed then adjust accordingly as the back sight is the grove running on top of the topstrap. Its a pain but it can be done. I'll get some pictures up of what was done.

Good luck and have fun.

Move the front sight sideways to adjust left & right. If your shooting to the
right and want to move the bullet holes to the left move the front sight to
the right. If your shooting high and want the bullet holes to be lower on your
target, the front sight will have to be made taller. Phil in Kansas City, well
actually in Excelsior Springs, but nobody knows where that is.

Off a bench with sand bags.

The second target (left) is with a colt .36 it shot ok.

The rest of them are remington clones, the rogers has a front pin type sight it can be replaced with different size pins but thats all that can be done. No windage adjustments.

Remington pietta clones. are the 3 im having issues with.

They appear to me to have fixed sights front and rear. Ive never tried to turn the front sights on the 2 pietta rem clones.

Targets are from parma woods.

I think i may have figured it out.

2 of them are so close to the same that the cylinders will interchange i had them in the wrong gun.

I hope this is all they need to get the accuracy back because my dad swears he use to put one ball in the same hole as the first with these pistols at 25 yards they were so accurate he says.

Ive never seen any of his targets but he shot them quite a bit so i dont doubt he had them shooting pretty good.

I can barley get my rifles to do that though.

That's in Jesse James territory near Kearney! I used to deer hunt Near Paradise at the Smithville lake area.

The R&S is probably the easiest to fix. Unscrew the front sight and replace with a taller piece of 1/8th inch brass rod. I used an old rod from a toilet tank. The thread is a 5.5mm or 6mm, I forget which. Run in the die to get enough threads to use. I would recommend locktite in addition as only a few threads hold it. Now you can file the height as needed. Once you are happy with that, carefully file the side opposite the direction you want the group to move. Check it often, as you'll be surprised how little it takes to move POI with that short a sight radius. Probably .02 inch. Good idea to make up a spare too that is reasonably close to your finished product. Stuff happens!

The Rems are a little more difficult. Most of the time the base is soldered sometimes with a pin(s). You could move the base in the appropriate direction and solder on height or file the blade off flush with the base and cut a slot for a new front sight. I've done both over the years but found that converting to a dovetailed sight was easier to deal with in the long run.

When i use a red dot bore sight the R&S is right on. The other 2 are just as they are shooting low and to the left. At 25 yards they are WAY low and to the left, like 6"

Who has those dovetail rear sights? i might look into a couple of those before i got filing on the front sight and make it to short to do anything with.

im not trying to be funny, but you may have to get closer to the target.
then work back.

Well switching the cylinders around to the correct frame helped ALOT!

I think this was the problem from the get go.

The first 2 shots i was aiming at 6:00 then i aimed slightly above the bull on the other 4.

This is 25 yards! with the brass trigger 1858 pietta.

Well this is how i decided to "adjust" the front sights.

Probably not the best way to do it but i did it anyway.

I may have gone the wrong way? im not 100% if i did it right or not.

Looking from the rear sights i used a barrel grinder in my dremel and i shaved off a little of the side of the front sight. I then took some off the top and then reblued it with cold blue. I did a little at a time then ill try it tomorrow and see if it helped any.

This is kinda how it looks not quite so off on one side but to get an idea of what i did.

Looking down the barrel away from the rear sights.

Your left and right look like it will be OK now, but looks like in your drawing you took off too much and it probably will shoot high now.

Its just the drawings that make it look tall or to short i dont think i actually took that much off.

I used a red dot laser bore sight till i adjusted it enough.

Its shooting ALOT better though now i think.

I loaded it up twice today got in 2 rounds before the ran me out of the booth.

Im happy with it now, the #1 i used Tripple 7 no wads, #2 i used the pyrodex pellets.

The pellets are 30g and i used a 45 auto case for the tripple 7

i think im getting closer, the paper cartridges are a bust i just cant get any accuracy from the paper cartridges.

First 3 targets are paper cartridges i couldnt hit anything.

Then i loaded directly with a wad. BIG difference

Next is both with just the charge and the ball. I think i get the best from the 45 auto shell and the tripple 7 that seems to be about the best.

15yards

grinding the side of the front sight over and down helped alot i think.
