Well, I've only got pictures of my AR when it was new and before I beat it like a red-headed stepchild, but with the wear and scratches and all, it's a beautiful thing. Of course, if you're talking "pretty" guns like my S&W model 27 with a 4" barrel, I'd much prefer polished and pristine.

I'm on both sides...nothing like a used, dirty gun after a day at the range. But it's nice to clean them up and get 'em shining, also.

It differs with each gun.

I like my AR to look like it has been used. That isn't a problem because it sees a good bit of dirt and work.

I like my M&P9 and Glock 19 to have some honest holster wear, again, not a problem.

However, I prefer a nice wood-stocked, blued barrel hunting rifle to look new and polished. Therefore, if weather might be bad for a hunt, my synthetic stocked, stainless barreled rifle gets the call.

That being said, I couldn't vote

Relatively clean, in good working order, are the priorities. I prefer any wear marks to have been put there by me. I don't like dinged up stocks or scratched up blueing. I like pretty guns. But I accept that wear marks are inevitable.

I depends on the type of gun for me my old m-44 looks like she been through a lot of battles. But my New guns,I try keeping them pretty.

I've got old guns, new guns, worn guns and shiny guns.

I bought each one for a specific reason, or for no reason.

I do my best to keep good care of them once they come into my possession.

I strive for no particular "look."

Someday, each of my guns will belong to somebody else.
I only hope that the next owner doesn't speak badly of how I treated the gun.

If you want to beat up a gun to make it look a certain way, that is your prerogative.
I'll venture that this movie-prop gun (Book of Eli) started life as a new gun.

Clean and polished with a few signs of wear.
I'm not in to wood in my guns. Black only. Looks evil and when looking a bit worn and well maintained, it speaks to me.
'Course, that could just be the meds... :)

For proper function, shiny and clean on the inside. On the outside.. as long as it ain't rusty, I'm good.

how my guns look?

I prefer blue & wood! Almost all of my guns were purchased used or given to me, so they already had character. The guns I've purchased new, have been hunted with in the real world, (snow, rain, etc...). They have been well maintained and cared for, but have been asked to work in adverse conditions in the mountains & deserts of western washington.

Shooters will look like shooters and trophies like trophies. I enjoyed polishing my Hi-power far more than shooting it. I enjoy shooting my Sig and don't care about holster wear.

The voices in my head say "use 'em 'n clean 'em" so I voted in the little bit of holster wear. I know the "guns are tools" thing, but...I like to keep them clean, oiled, and looking good. I also understand the "its how they perform" idea. Syo should have seen my cousins varmit gun. Looked like ten miles of bad road but it was death on groundhogs. I have to remind myself that we're all a bit different and view our guns a bit different. As long as its safe and parts aren't falling off...we're good to go.

I chose Glossy polished, but that is really not for all!
I have safe queens that I love to be polished and ready to show!

I have nice like new guns that shoot well that I enjoy!

I love most of my hunting firearms, which show wear and character! I actually have a few bumps and scratches that I can go back in time and remember it happening!

Kinda bitter sweet I suppose...For sure all categories exist in my safe!

I like them to be as clean as possible all the time. I don't mind them getting wear from being used. But I try to limit the wear by treating my tools with respect and not abusing them.
