Bought one of these to size the bullets I cast, but shell holders would not go on the ram. First RCBS sent a new shell holder thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't so they sent a new ram. Shell holders can be put in this one, but now I need to know how to replace the ram. I thought maybe just punching out the pin would do it, but it doesn't seem to work. Don't want to hammer it too hard for fear of damaging the press. So does anyone know how to do this?

There should be some E-Ring clips holding all the pins & linkage in.

Did you remove the E-Clips first??

Don't know what else to tell ya.

Because there should be nothing but the E-Clips holding them in place.
Take a clip of either end of the pin, and it should just slip out the other side.

See this on the parts list page.

Some suggestions, they may help, maybe not.

If the top of the ram is damaged so that it will not hold a shell holder, it may be damaged such that it will not slide through the hole in the frame. This assumes you are trying to remove the ram out the bottom and have removed the clip in the top of the ram that holds the shell holder in place.

Also, check for burrs around any holes in the ram. They may have been peened over a little such that the ram will not pass through the frame.

Since you are going to trash the old ram, you can clean up these areas of the ram with a file such that the ram can be removed.

I hope this helps or maybe some more information on what is not happening on the removal of the ram.

Remove the ram pin #9 then push the ram up and straight out, to remove the pin remove link one and two, they are held in by a pin with J (snap c rings).

If the top of the ram is upset the diameter of the ram can be too large in diameter to exit out the bottom, make sure there are no burs on the bottom sides of the ram.

Side note, if the diameter of the ram is larger in diameter than 7/8" (.875") -minus a few remove any upset with a file and remove by pushing the ram out the bottom. I have one, I do not use it but I have one JIC, as in just in case I need it.
