I have one powder dispenser, the Hornady L-N-L that came with my press. I used to remove the dispenser and pour the powder back into the container. Then I discovered the aluminum powder drain. Now life couldn’t be easier. Since I’m fairly new (starting my 3rd year soon), I change powders all the time, searching for what works best for each gun.
I also have a long bamboo chopstick that reaches to the baffle inside the hopper. As I’m draining powder back into the container I tap the sides of the hopper, which clears off any clinging grains from the plastic hopper. Then I rotate the baffle with the chopstick, which has been effective at clearing 100% of any powders. Ever so rarely, I remove the dispenser completely to inspect for any changes to the metal or plastic. So far, so good.
I did run a piece of scotch tape around the outer base of the hopper. Since doing that, my hopper doesn’t budge at all. Before adding the “gasket” the hopper would move around a bit, and I always worried that one inadvertent nudge would cost be $20 worth of powder.
