how does the brass eject? am I missing something????

The slide (and ejection port) move to the rear about 1" before the brass ejects. That would place the port behind the sight mount.

Not well would be my guess. Yes, the slide moves the rear to eject the brass but I don't think theres enough room there for 100% reliablity.
